PEOPLE OF THE WORLD

PEOPLE, REPORTAGE

A journey leads through the Balkans, Iran, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, India to China: countries, people, world religions. Nearness and distance. Connection and alienation at the same time. Everything is different and yet familiar. The result is two series that confront us both with isolation. First, directly with the individual people, then with their environment.
Face to face. Without emotions, without judgement, simply an image. The expression is in the moment, almost abstract. The faces touch and alienate at the same time. An opposite pole that confronts us, lets us ask questions and forces us to self-reflect. Opposite stands a person who is both close and strange at the same time. In order to emphasize this equality and at the same time otherness, the same distance, the same exposure was always chosen. Only man changes himself, his environment, his history, his faith, his ideals and his possibilities.

"Each of these portraits contain a personal memory for me. These often spontaneous encounters are one of the reasons why I travel. In many places of the world a culture of hospitality is lived,“ says Nico.
